The Latin American Studies Association (LASA) is the world’s largest professional association for individuals and institutions engaged in the study of Latin America. Its 12,000 members around the world represent all disciplines and diverse occupational endeavours.

LASA had experienced rapid growth, and had recognized the need to re-evaluate their priorities and set strategic targets for the next five years. They wanted our support in developing a five-year strategic plan that articulated their mission, goals and objectives and contained clear actionable steps.

Our team used an inclusive process to engage with LASA’s stakeholders from the start, to ensure optimal buy-in for the new strategic plan.

After a comprehensive organizational analysis, we conducted face-to-face interviews with over 25 key stakeholders who represented the various groups that LASA serves. At the same time we distributed a survey to the over 12,000 members of LASA. The results provided the input for a detailed SWOT analysis and a one-day strategic planning workshop.

Our team developed a strategic roadmap, illustrating the key milestones over the next five years. We identified four high level focus areas and assigned actionable implementation steps, KPIs and accountability lines for each one.
