Client Case Study
GRI-G4 Sustainability Report for Hellas Gold
Eldorado Gold is one of Canada's leading mid-tier public gold companies, with shares trading on the Toronto (TSX:ELD) and New York (NYSE:EGO) stock exchanges. Hellas Gold is Eldorado Gold's Greek subsidiary.
The client sought help in preparing the 2016 Sustainability Report for Hellas Gold. The goal was to further establish the company's strong reputation in corporate responsibility and sustainability, and produce the document in both Greek and English.
They required expertise in corporate governance and reporting, knowledge of leading sustainability reporting practices, and recommendations on how to build upon the previous year's report to advance their capabilities.
Building on recognized international standards in sustainability reporting, we made tailored recommendations for Hellas Gold on how they could effectively communicate relevant information to their key stakeholder groups.
We focused on closely aligning the report to the corporate strategy – of both the parent and the subsidiary. We developed the strategy’s three core pillars, and structured the report with relevant indicators under each, so it closely matched other company communications.
As the first Hellas Gold sustainability report that includes performance targets, this report marks a new era in reporting for the company. We received positive feedback from the Greek team that strengthening the link between reporting and strategy has made them think more about their processes and approach to sustainability.
